Born in the Chinese year of the Earth Monkey, John is a crazy monkey person who opens chinks in people’s armour using a combination of sharp wit, humour, irresistible charm and intuitive acuity.
He lives life with his heart on his sleeve, leads by example: “The first card I picked in my first ever workshop as a trainer was ‘Teaching is being‘. I remember reflecting that I couldn’t have chosen a better first card if I had tried.
“The best and truest quote I have ever heard on the subject was written by Kahlil Gibran, “A teacher can only lead you to the threshold of your own mind”.”
So the function of the teacher is only to accompany somebody on a journey in their own consciousness, never in his own. To hold their hand and a space for the fragile bud of their understanding to unfurl, until it is strong enought to sustain itself. But that flower was always and ever present.
“I am interested in allowing people to have an authentic experience of themselves, never to suggest how it should be for them. Healer Martin Brofman sums it up perfectly when he says, “you are the expert in your consciousness.”
